A fascinating East Kalimantan Dayak Cultural Week will be held at the National Museum in Jakarta from 27-30 April 2015 in conjunction with the 237th anniversary of the National Museum. The event is organized by the Sekar Nusa Jakarta community.

The East Kalimantan Cultural week will involve over 1,000 students and 20 primary schools around the Jakarta Greater region to introduce and aquaint Indonesian children with and love Indonesia's many and diverse cultures.

The children will study the contents of the Museum, try their hand in cooking, make various handicrafts, dance and sing typical Dayak dances, such as the Enggang dance and song and Buah Bolo, listen to Dayak stories and legends and try the Dayak musical instrument called Sampek.

Arie Bekti Budi Hastuari of the Sekar Nusa explained that the community intends to introduce and teach Dayak handicraft skills to the students, in particular to those in the age group between 7 to 12 years, since at that age the children can best absorb stimuli that can expand their horizons for their future.
