The flower city of Bandung, capital city of the West Java Province and host of the historical Asian African Conference will reverberate with the sounds of angklung on 23rd April 2015 when the Angklung For The World side-event highlights the 60th Commemoration of the Asian African Conference at the Siliwangi Stadium.
About 20,000 people are expected together play the Sundanese traditional bamboo music instrument. This number far exceeds the record achieved in previous angklung colossal performances held in New York, USA (5,000people) and Beijing, China (10,000). This event is, therefore, to be included in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest angklung performance in the world.
Guaranteed to steal the spotlight of the world, this special attraction is presented by the City of Bandung in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism.
"Everyone participating in the event will wear the Wonderful Indonesia T-shirt while all angklung instruments will be decorated with the brand Wonderful Indonesia logo. The event will be covered by international media, captured by photographers from many countries; and by thousands of gadgets and mobile phone cameras. It will probably emerge as the profile picture of thousands of people's social media accounts, and awareness of Indonesia's tourism will spread even further" commented Arief Yahya, Minister of Tourism of the Republic Indonesia, concurrently, who chairs the Side-Events.
The colossal cultural event as part of the 60th commemoration of the Asian African Conference is expected to attract national and international tourists to participate and be part of history. Everyone is invited to come and shake the angklung, transforming Bandung into an Ocean of Angklungs, resounding the harmony of bamboo to every corner of the world.
