This December, the spotlight will again shine on the longest running river on Sumatra: the Musi River as the 4th edition of the International Musi Triboatton is set to take place from 15th to 19th December 2015 in Palembang, capital of the province of South Sumatra.
Combining rafting, kayaking, and dragon boat races, this is a one of a kind event initiated by the Ministry of Tourism to introduce the splendor of South Sumatra in terms of special interest activities. Set on the wide Musi River that flows through the city of Palembang, the event will feature over 500Km of adrenaline rushing races as well as relaxing sports events. Following the stream of the Musi River, the event will pass 5 cities/regencies, which are: Palembang City, Banyuasin Regency, Musi Banyuasin Regency, Musi Rawas Regency, and Empat Lawang Regency.
This year, there will be 9 national and international teams who will compete in the event. Among international participants who will join the competition will come from Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Australia.
"The Musi River as a tourism icon of South Sumatra can attract more tourists as long as it is not overly exploited and applied the green tourism principles" stated Minister of Tourism, Arif Yahya at a press conference held at the Soesilo Sodarman Ballroom, Sapta Pesona Building (the Office of the Ministry of Tourism) on Wednesday 11th November 2015.
