Kicking off 2016 events, the Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta and Indonesia's flagship airline, Garuda Indonesia collaborate in presenting an international cycling event namely : the Jogja Exotic Cycling. Taking the theme "Tour de World Heritage in Jogja 2016", this sport tourism event will take riders to some of the memorable landmarks around Yogyakarta on 13th February 2016.
Covering a total distance of 45Km, the tour will be divided into 4 stages. Commencing the tour, the 1st stage will take cyclists on a 20Km lap from the Balairung Gadjah Mada University to the Plaosan Lor Temple. The 2nd stage covers 2.5Km from Plaosan Lor Temple to the North Field of the elegant Prambanan Temple. In stage 3, riders will continue their journey for another 2.5Km from here to the Ratu Boko Palace. Completing the tour, the 4th and final stage will take competitors from the Ratu Boko Palace back to the Balairung Gadjah Mada University in the final 20Km distance.
Projected to attract participation from over 400 cycling enthusiasts from across the archipelago and the world, the event is aimed to further promote the enchanting splendor of Yogyakarta and its beautiful cultural surroundings. As a city that features Java's impressive world heritage sites such as the Prambanan Temple Complex, Ratu Boko Palace Ruins, Kalasan Temple, as well at close proximity the Borobudur Temple, Yogyakarta is truly the cultural heart of Java.
