Having turned the spotlight on the entrancing Nias island in North Sumatra Province since September through a series of exciting festivities that included the International Surfing Festival, the Ya'ahowu Cultural Festival 2016 will soon reach its pinnacle with a grand closure on 24th to 26th November 2016 to take place at the Ya'ahowu Park (Luaha Beach Area) and the Pelita Field at Gunung Sitoli Town.

The event will be highlighted with a variety of exhilarating activities such as a Nias Traditional Culinary Fiesta, a Traditional Dance Festival, Traditional Music Competition, Multi-ethnic art performances, Traditional Sport and Folk Games Competition, and a whole lot more. As the finale of the closing ceremony, a colossal traditional dance performance will be staged involving over 5000 dancers.

Nias is already well-known worldwide for its unbelievable rolling surf barrels, - the darling of surfers, - and the earliest discovered living Megalithic culture in the Indonesian archipelago, which still thrives on the island until this very day.

As far as surfers are concerned, in Indonesia, it is the Bay of Sorake and Lagundri Beach on Nias island that form THE ultimate destination. Sorake Bay on Nias is an internationally renowned surfing spot, and has become one of surfing's most exotic wave-searching destination. Every year, surfers flock from across the globe for a chance to conquer its legendary point breaks.
