Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy, Mari Elka Pangestu, recently in Jakartaofficially launched 17 Tourism Industry Certification Institutes (Lembaga Sertifikasi Usaha LSU) that are officially authorized to issue Certificates pertaining to the tourism Industry.
The presence of these 17 Certification Institutes is expected to boost the standard and quality of
services of the tourist industry, which will automatically raise national competitiveness of Indonesia’s tourism industry.
At present the Ministry has completed 24 of the 56 targeted standard competencies in the Tourism Industry, among which are those for hotels, travel services, restaurants, karaoke, restaurants, recreation parks, diving, tourist information, spa and tourism consultancy. While four competencies that are expected to be completed this September are for villas, yachts, games and leisure sports arenas and golf. The remainder are to be completed in 2015.
